ABSTRACT
Soil may represent a direct source or act as an intermediary for the transmission of antibiotic-resistant and pathogenic Escherichia coli strains, particularly in low-income rural settings. Thus, determining risk factors associated with detection, growth, long-term survival E. soil environments is important public health. Here, we demonstrate that household soils Bangladesh are reservoirs potentially strains can support growth survival, defined physicochemical characteristics drivers this environment. In contrast, found no evidence household-level factors, including water, sanitation, hygiene indicators, were contamination soils.
