ABSTRACT
A collection of overlapping cDNA clones encoding the latency transcript pseudorabies virus and DNA nucleotide sequence gene has been obtained. The is spliced with 4.6 kb intervening sequences. This mRNA, designated large transcript, 8.5 kb. It polyadenylated contains a open reading frame capable coding for 200-kDa polypeptide. direction transcription antiparallel to that immediate-early IE180 newly identified early gene, EP0. overlaps entire most EP0 gene. mRNA 1.75 polyadenylated. deduced amino acid revealed presence cysteine-rich zinc finger domain similar ICP0 herpes simplex type 1 61 polypeptide varicella-zoster virus. On basis biological functions, conserved protein domains, unique spatial arrangements homologous polypeptides (IE180 versus ICP4 ICP0) between 1, it predicted also encoded by 8.5-kb transcripts these two viruses.
