ABSTRACT
Nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) plays a role in the transcriptional regulation of genes involved inflammation and cell survival. In this report we demonstrate that NF-kappaB recruits coactivator complex has striking similarities to recruited by nuclear receptors. Inactivation either cyclic AMP response element binding protein (CREB)-binding (CBP), members p160 family coactivators, or CBP-associated factor (p/CAF) antibody microinjection prevents NF-kappaB-dependent transactivation. Like receptor-dependent gene expression, expression requires specific LXXLL motifs one members, enhancement activity histone acetyltransferase (HAT) p/CAF but not CBP. This is differentially Rel family. The p50 homodimer fails recruit although p50-p65 heterodimeric form transcription assembles integrator complex. These findings provide new mechanistic insights into how dimeric factors differential effect on expression.
