ABSTRACT
Acetobacteraceae are one of the best known and most extensively studied groups bacteria, which nowadays encompasses a variety taxa that very different from vinegar-producing species defining family. Our paper presents detailed phylogeny all current classified as Acetobacteraceae, for we propose taxonomic revision. Several such inhabit some extreme environments on planet, deserts Antarctica to Sinai desert, well acidic niches in volcanic sites like have been studying Patagonia. work documents progressive variation respiratory chain early branching into chains acidophilic Acidocella acetous Acetobacter. Remarkably, several genomes retain remnants ancestral photosynthetic traits functional bc1 complexes. Thus, common ancestor was photosynthetic.
