ABSTRACT
Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a common clinical condition with symptoms and signs of vaginal inflammation in the presence Candida species. At least one episode VVC experienced up to 75% women reproductive age group during their lifetime, 5% 8% such suffer from chronic form. Most cases are still caused by C. albicans. However, incidence non-albicans (NAC) species, as parapsilosis, continuously increasing. Despite prevalence NAC, little known about these species almost nothing mechanisms that trigger VVC. Lactobacillus spp. most widely before represented microorganisms microbiota healthy women. Here, cell-free supernatants (CFS) obtained L. acidophilus, plantarum, rhamnosus, reuteri were assessed for effect on parapsilosis virulence traits. Moreover, we if an persisted even after removal CFS (CFS preincubation effect). transwell coculture system was employed which relevant antifungal shown be attributable compounds released lactobacilli. Our results suggest lactobacilli can work (i) reducing traits, indicated reduced fungal proliferation, viability, metabolic activity, (ii) improving epithelial resistance fungus. Overall, data that, context microbiota, may play role preventing onset mucosal infection. IMPORTANCE The Treatment failure NAC-VVC because some resistant or poorly susceptible agents normally employed. Research parapsilosis's pathogenic alternative treatments lacking. albicans triggers producing hyphae, favor loss tolerance. Differently, only produces pseudohyphae. Hence, different factors Likewise, therapeutic options could also involve targets. Substantial vitro vivo studies pathogenicity presented here ascribe novel beneficial spp., whose provides postbiotic-like activity against parapsilosis. Further needed unravel involved bioactivities compounds, better understand single postbiotics CFS.
