ABSTRACT
<h3>Objectives:</h3> To investigate the incidence of parasitic infestations and inflammation accompanying parasitosis in a series appendectomy cases. <h3>Methods:</h3> Six-hundred-sixty patients who had undergone Bingöl State Hospital, Bingol, Turkey with preliminary diagnosis appendicitis between January 2012 February 2015 were included this retrospective study. They retrospectively evaluated terms age, gender pathological findings. Cases diagnosed re-evaluated histopathologically for inflammatory response. <h3>Results:</h3> The mean age was 19.6 years, male/female ratio 1.8. When histopathological diagnoses, 573 (86.8%) as acute appendicitis, infestation identified 12 (1.8%). Among cases infestation, <i>Enterobius vermicularis</i> 9 (75%) Taenia 3 (25%) Of vermicularis</i>, 4 (44.4%) lymphoid hyperplasia, 1 (11.1%) normal-structured appendix vermiformis, findings appendicitis. All taeniasis an response: 2 (66%) gangrenous (33%) them. <h3>Conclusion:</h3> Parasitic are among probable causes etiology should be kept mind during differential diagnosis. However, whether every leads to appendiceal response is controversial.
