Community-generated solutions to cancer inequity: recommendations from transgender, non-binary and intersex people on improving cancer screening and care

ABSTRACT
Transgender, non-binary and intersex people are less likely to receive appropriate cancer screening for their bodies have a higher incidence of certain cancers than cisgender people. We aimed elicit community-generated solutions improve these populations.We conducted six online, asynchronous focus groups in English Spanish with transgender, non-binary, participants who were at least 15 years age from across the USA. Participants shared experiences related conversations healthcare providers recommendations making practices more inclusive experiences. Focus group data exported into transcripts analysed thematic analysis.The 23 represented diversity races, genders, sexualities, ages geographical locations. participants, particularly Black, Indigenous and/or colour, reported having self-advocate necessary care by initiating about providers, requesting specific screenings educating body. Notably, no white or described request relevant initiate providers. recommended that forms ask body parts allow self-identification.The ability properly screen patients can direct impact on outcomes. More intake may alleviate need care. work should be done educate risk individuals.
