ABSTRACT
Objective: This study aimed to determine the extent of agreement between central venous and arterial values for pH, bicarbonate, base excess, lactate in a group intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Methods: A prospective convenience sample patients deemed by their treating doctor require blood gas analysis as part clinical ICU. It compared excess on samples taken within five minutes each other. Data were analysed using bias (Bland–Altman) methods. Results: total 168 matched pairs from 110 entered into study. All variables showed close agreement. The mean difference pH was 0.03 units, bicarbonate 0.52 mmol/l, 0.08 0.19 mmol/l. acceptably narrow 95% limits Conclusion: Central high level with respective values, These results suggest that may be an acceptable substitute measurement this setting.
