ABSTRACT
Background —It has recently been shown that humoral antigastric autoreactivities occur in a substantial number of Helicobacter pylori infected patients. Aims— To analyse the relevance such autoantibodies for histological and serological parameters infection as well clinical course. Methods —Gastric biopsy samples sera from 126 patients with upper abdominal complaints were investigated evidence H using histology serology. Autoantibodies against epitopes human gastric mucosa detected by immunohistochemical techniques. Histological findings all then correlated detection autoantibodies. Results — was significantly associated reactive luminal membrane foveolar epithelium canalicular structures within parietal cells. The presence latter severity body gastritis, atrophy, elevated fasting gastrin concentrations, decreased ratio serum pepsinogen I:II. Furthermore anticanalicular greater than twofold reduced prevalence duodenal ulcer. Conclusion —The data indicate play role pathogenesis outcome particular development mucosal atrophy.
