ABSTRACT
To assess serum interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta) concentrations in patients with ischaemic heart disease, to characterise subgroups of raised IL-1 concentrations, and examine whether correlate non-specific indices inflammation.Survey study disease.Cardiac catheterisation laboratory a tertiary medical centre.Consecutive angina pectoris recovering from uncomplicated acute myocardial infarction undergoing elective coronary angiography.Mean(SD) were higher (P < 0.001) 50% artery stenosis (n = 11; 18.8(19.9) pg/ml), > or 23; 10.2(11.4) 8(0.8) days post-infarction 13; 4.4(5.8) pg/ml) than 15 healthy, age-matched controls (0.3(0.5) pg/ml). Serum did not total blood leucocyte counts (r -0.07, P NS), lymphocyte -0.24, monocyte -0.29, fibrinogen -0.16, NS) C-reactive protein (9(10.5) mg/dl v 14.1(19) for undetectable detectable respectively, NS).Serum are particular those minimal disease angina. The precise role remains be determined.
