ABSTRACT
To compare hospital admission rates for all causes and specific of injury in children the elderly by a measure economic deprivation.All emergency admissions Welsh residents from 1997-99 were located to one 865 electoral tracts, which grouped into fifths using socioeconomic deprivation. Standardised ages 0-14, 15-75, 75+ year groups each quintile calculated with 95% confidence intervals.There 90 935 population 2.84 million yielding crude rate 1601/100 000/year standardised 1493/100 000. The ratio deprived affluent areas varied category age group.
