ABSTRACT
The development of mucilage in the epidermal cells canola seeds (Brassica campestris L. cv. Candle) was studied with light and electron microscopy from 5 days after pollination to maturity. During first 17 starch deposited amyloplasts. At or near 17th day appeared between plasmalemma outer tangential wall cells. As volume increased, grains disappeared were totally absent by 25 days. Membrane-bound structures Golgi bodies visible within cytoplasm adjacent site deposition. maturity seed devoid engorged mucilage.
