ABSTRACT
Two hundred and eighteen Bacillus thuringiensis isolates from Brazil were characterized by the presence of crystal protein genes PCR with primers specific to different cry cyt genes. Among these isolates, 95 selected according their geographic origin for genetic characterization 16S rRNA gene, RAPD, plasmid profile. Isolates containing cry1 most abundant (48%) followed cry11 (7%) cry8 (2%). Finally, 40.3% did not produce any product. The profile RAPD analysis showed a remarkable diversity among B. observed in gene. These results suggest that species influence ecological factors spatial separation between strains generated conquest habitats.Key words: thuringiensis, genes, profile, diversity, ecology.
