ABSTRACT
In this paper, a novel nanosensor comprising the metal–insulator–metal (MIM) plasmonics waveguide with semi-elliptical and rectangular ring resonant cavity is designed. near-infrared waveband, propagation properties of electromagnetic waves in structure are studied using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The results show that, based on coupling between cavity, transmission spectrum exhibits sharp Fano resonance shape. Next, influence refractive index sensor parameters performance systematically investigated. simulation that has best sensitivity 1384[Formula: see text]nm/RIU (refractive unit), figure merit (FOM) 28.4. simple MIM could be applied to sensitive plasmonic sensors.
