ABSTRACT
The fully overhauled IN5 was the first cold neutron time-of-flight spectrometer equipped with position sensitive detectors. It has been in scheduled operation since end of 2008. experience use confirmed expectations terms both a qualitative and quantitative efficiency increase, allowing to open new opportunities for spectroscopy. Using full potential detectors brought up an increasing demand single crystal spectroscopy while enhanced count-rate better signal-to-noise allow studying smaller samples or weaker scatterers more conventional field quasi-elastic scattering. Additional effort sample environment – dedicated magnet polarization analysis option are expected improve further study strongly correlated electron systems.
