ABSTRACT
We review the merits of local potential approach in description elastic alpha-particle scattering and alpha-cluster structure medium-weight nuclei. recall how optical model analyses angular distributions, displaying an anomalous large angle enhancement, yielded unique potentials, whose real part is determined with good accuracy up to small internucleus distances, we investigate their properties; then analyze general compatibility these potentials microscopic requirements resulting from constraints due antisymmetrization, case a system which was thoroughly investigated point view, spectroscopy well agreed upon, that is, 20Ne = α + 16O system. The applied 44Ti 40Ca - analogue fp-shell -whose α-cluster remained unclear for long time calculations led contradictory interpretations; not only does this simple give nice account energy location intraband electromagnetic transition probabilities members ground state band, but it predicts existence excited bands, were subsequently identified experimentally alpha-transfer experiments. same 36Ar system, where similar predictions have recently been confirmed experimentally, other systems close sd-shell closure region. Finally persistence heavy nuclei discussed within approach.
