ABSTRACT
Abstract Different Mediterranean Basin limestones, like Calcário Ançã (Portugal), Lioz Piedra San Cristobal (Spain), Escúzar (Spain) and Pietra di Lecce (Italy), have been widely used as building materials in the European architecture. The aim of this study was focused on biodeterioration, mainly evaluation primary bioreceptivity those materials. A set samples inoculated with a cultured photosynthetic biofilm under laboratory conditions. Several assessment tools were applied to monitor colonization overtime different lithotypes. After 3 months incubation occurred endolithically some lithotypes, namely . Spectrophotometric determination chlorophyll useful analytical technique achieve total amount biomass rock substrates, demonstrating that highest lowest bioreceptive respectively. Microscopic image analyses essential understand stone process its pattern distribution. Physical parameters exposure conditions shown play an important role establishment development colonization.
