ABSTRACT
Over the years, medical informatics researchers have studied how to use software technologies provide decision support for using evidence-based procedures. Software professionals investigated hospital administration, therapy and laboratory workflows. For many of these efforts, managing exceptions in workflows is a key issue since must cope with wide variety patient situations as well those healthcare environments. This paper presents an analysis past research workflow exceptions, proposes future that would benefit applications. The focused on three topics: representing, handling analyzing exceptions. Based upon our analysis, we believe techniques verifying exception management models dynamic should be useful possibly essential developing large scale, practical systems.
