ABSTRACT
Flash memory is a storage medium that becoming more and popular. Though not yet fully embraced in traditional computing systems, prevalent embedded materialized as commodity appliances such the digital camera MP3 player we enjoy our everyday lives. This paper considers an issue file systems use makes following two contributions. First, identify cost of block cleaning key performance bottleneck for analogous to seek time disk storage. We derive define three parameters, namely, utilization, invalidity, uniformity, from characteristics present formula based on these parameters. show that, uniformity most strongly influences system controllable parameter. leads us second contribution, designing modification-aware (MODA) page allocation scheme analyzing how enhanced affects with various workloads. Real implementation experiments conducted MODA typically improves 20 30% compared sequential used YAFFS.
