ABSTRACT
Although animation is one of the most compelling aspects computer graphics, possibilities for depicting movement that make dynamic scenes so exciting remain limited both still images and animations. In our work, we experiment with motion depiction as a first-class entity within rendering process. We extend concept surface shader, which evaluated on an infinitesimal portion object's at instant in time, to programmable effect, global knowledge about all portions pass front pixel during arbitrary long sequence time. With this added information, effects can decide color pixels after (or before) object has passed them. order compute input required by effects, propose 4D data structure aggregates into single geometric representation sampling position different time instances connecting corresponding edges two adjacent samples bilinear patch. present example various styles speed lines, multiple stroboscopic images, temporal offsetting, photorealistic stylized blurring simple production examples.
