ABSTRACT
The digitization initiatives in the past decades have led to a tremendous increase digitized objects cultural heritage domain. Although digitally available, these are often not easily accessible for interested users because of distributed allocation content different repositories and variety data structure standards. When search content, they first need identify specific repository then know how within this platform (e.g., usage vocabulary). goal EEXCESS project is design implement an infrastructure that enables ubiquitous access digital content. Cultural should be made available channels habitually visit tailored their current context without manually multiple portals or repositories. To realize goal, open-source software components services been developed can either used as integrated modular suitable other products services. modules comprise (i) Web-based detection, (ii) information retrieval-based, federated aggregation, (iii) metadata definition mapping, (iv) component responsible privacy preservation. Various applications realized based on bring user consumption creation scenarios. For example, by browser extension generating automatic queries from page focus paragraph presenting related results aggregated providers. A Google Docs add-on allows retrieval relevant providers while collaboratively writing document. These resources included document citation, image, link (with preview) having leave disrupt task explicit various providers’ portals.
