ABSTRACT
Background Microwave ablation (MWA) has achieved favorable results in the treatment of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) confined glandular parenchyma. However, studies on outcome MWA for PTMC with US-detected capsular invasion remain unclarified literature. Purpose To compare feasibility, effectiveness, and safety without invasion. Materials Methods Participants from 12 hospitals a maximal diameter 1 cm or less US- CT-detected lymph node metastasis (LNM) who planned to undergo were enrolled this prospective study between December 2019 April 2021. All tumors evaluated preoperative US divided into those The participants observed until July 1, 2022. primary end points, including technical success disease progression, secondary parameters, complications, tumor shrinkage during follow-up, compared two groups, multivariable regression was performed. Results After exclusion, 461 (mean age, 43 years ± 11 [SD]; 337 women) included: 83 378 one participant aborted because failure, 82 volume, 0.1 mL vs 0.1; P = .07) analyzed mean follow-up period 20 months 4 (range, 12-25 months) 21 11-26 months), respectively. In invasion, comparable rates (99% [82 83] 100% [378 378], .18), respectively (1% [one 82] 3% [11 .38). There no evidence differences progression (2% 1% [four 378]; .82) (mean, 97% 8 [SD] 96% 13; .58). Conclusion feasible showed short-term efficacy presence © RSNA, 2023 Clinical trial registration no.
