ABSTRACT
Background High variability in prostate MRI quality might reduce accuracy cancer detection. Purpose To prospectively evaluate the of scanners taking part control phase global PRIME (Prostate Imaging Using ± Contrast Enhancement) trial using Prostate Quality (PI-QUAL) standardized scoring system, give recommendations on how to improve protocols, and establish whether could be improved by these recommendations. Materials Methods In prospective clinical (PRIME), for each scanner, centers performing submitted five consecutive studies protocols (phase I). Submitted data were evaluated consensus two expert genitourinary radiologists PI-QUAL system that evaluates diagnostic points (1 2 = nondiagnostic; 3 sufficient; 4 adequate, 5 optimal) between September 2021 August 2022. Feedback was provided not achieving a score, invited resubmit new imaging modified protocol II). Descriptive comparison outcomes made scanners, feedback provided, overall scores. Results I, 41 from 18 countries total 355 multiparametric 71 with nine (13%) score 3, 39 (55%) 4, 23 (32%) 5. Of 48 (n [68%]) received improve, dynamic contrast-enhanced sequences those least adhered Reporting Data System, version 2.1, criteria (44 [92%]), followed diffusion-weighted (20 [42%]) T2-weighted (19 [40%]). II, 36 17 resubmitted revised studies, resulting 62 64 [97%]) final Conclusion Substantial variation acquisition parameters as measure observed, particularly DCE sequences. Basic evaluation modifications can lead substantial improvements quality. Clinical registration no. NCT04571840 Published under CC BY 4.0 license. Supplemental material is available this article.
