ABSTRACT
PURPOSE: To prospectively assess contrast material–enhanced voiding ultrasonography (US) for grading of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) and to compare results with those cystourethrography (VCUG) in adult patients undergoing antireflux ureteral implantation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty-seven consecutive who had undergone renal transplantation Politano-Leadbetter (18 patients) or Lich-Gregoire (19 technique were included on the basis previous urinary tract infections (UTIs) time elapsed after transplantation. Exclusion criterion was current UTI. US performed by one two sonologists injection saline microbubble suspension recorded videotape. Sonologists assigned VUR diagnosis consensus videotape review. VCUG radiologists immediately US. Radiologists blinded findings diagnoses consensus. Contingency table used VCUG. Agreement between determined κ statistics. RESULTS: With VCUG, diagnosed 15 not 22 patients. agreement 14 21 without VUR. sensitivity specificity detection 93% (14 true-positive abnormal cases) 95% (21 true-negative normal cases), respectively. (κ = 0.89, P < .001). In 11 patients, grades three indicated a higher grade than did seven 18 cases eight 19 cases. CONCLUSION: A high rate seen © RSNA, 2004
