ABSTRACT
In 12 patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism, 13 parathyroid tumors detected the use of sonography and confirmed by fine-needle aspiration biopsy were treated percutaneous injection absolute ethanol under ultrasonographic guidance. Indications for this procedure recurrence after previous subtotal surgery, high surgical risk, or refusal surgery. Significant volume reductions recorded larger glands; in smaller ones, structural changes observed as well. Clinical biochemical therapeutic effects obtained most cases single hyperplastic glands treated.
