ABSTRACT
PURPOSE: To determine if T2 relaxation time measurements with magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in patients Graves ophthalmopathy (GO) can predict response to therapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Studied were 84 GO, 27 disease without (GD), and 12 control subjects disease. times of extraocular muscles retrobulbar fat tissue measured. Twenty-five GO treated systemic corticosteroids retroorbital radiation RESULTS: GD the same as those controls but longer (P < .05). all controls. The predicted probability treatment increased mean prior Of 25 combined therapy, only particularly prolonged showed impressive response. CONCLUSIONS: MR allow noninvasive detection acute muscle inflammation which will likely benefit from antiinflammatory
