ABSTRACT
Research efforts in developing solid-state batteries with lithium metal anode have been on the rise owing to high specific energy density cells using metal. An all battery is often assumed be safer compared a Li-ion an organic liquid electrolyte. If of cell increased through introduction Li metal, potential temperature also increases, leading reduction safety. In particular, during self-heating has react cathode itself and/or oxygen released from upon heating, as well solid The rate and extent exothermic reactions chemistry configuration determine whether could created cell, its onset rate. To quantify thermal behavior that occur within state we use differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). For DSC measurements, assemble layers inside hermetically sealed stainless pans, which allows us carry out analysis inert environment. With this platform, multiple chemistries configurations can tested, taking place among components quantified. presentation, will discuss our measurements select including LiCoO 2 LiNi 0.8 Mn 0.1 Co O cathodes at different states charge, 7 La 3 Zr 12 PS 4 electrolytes, anode.
