ABSTRACT
Testosterone increases muscle mass and strength regulates other physiological processes, but we do not know whether testosterone effects are dose dependent requirements for maintaining various androgen-dependent processes similar. To determine the of graded doses on body composition, size, strength, power, sexual cognitive functions, prostate-specific antigen (PSA), plasma lipids, hemoglobin, insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) levels, 61 eugonadal men, 18–35 yr, were randomized to one five groups receive monthly injections a long-acting gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist, suppress endogenous secretion, weekly 25, 50, 125, 300, or 600 mg enanthate 20 wk. Energy protein intakes standardized. The administration GnRH agonist plus resulted in mean nadir concentrations 253, 306, 542, 1,345, 2,370 ng/dl at 25-, 50-, 125-, 300-, 600-mg doses, respectively. Fat-free increased dependently men receiving (change +3.4, 5.2, 7.9 kg, respectively). changes fat-free highly ( P = 0.0001) correlated with log r 0.73, 0.0001). Changes leg press thigh quadriceps volumes, IGF-I positively concentrations, whereas fat high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol negatively correlated. Sexual function, visual-spatial cognition mood, PSA levels did change significantly any dose. We conclude that circulating induced by administration, associated dose- concentration-dependent mass, HDL cholesterol, conformity single linear dose-response relationship. However, different have relationships.
