Design of Elliptic Reflective LED Surgical Shadowless Lamps Using Mathematical Optical Tracing Algorithms

ABSTRACT
Traditional surgical shadowless halogen lamps are generally designed as projection type with many light bulbs, which can produce not only mercury pollution but also heat radiation that serious problems to patient. The study utilized Runge-Kutta methods and mathematical algorithms design optimize the freeform lens. LED (light-emitting diode) was adopted replace traditional lamp. A uniform lens fabricated based on energy conservation. At first, field of is concentrated through improve optical efficiency. Second, three-shell elliptic curves applied reflective lamps, where few chips needed. Light rays emitting from different directions target plane achieve goal shadowless. In this study, LED’s luminance flux 1,895 lm. shadow dilution 54%.<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" id="M1"><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mi>E</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mi>c</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:msub></mml:mrow></mml:math>(central illuminance) 114,900 lux, the<mml:math id="M2"><mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mi>d</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mn>50</mml:mn></mml:mrow></mml:msub><mml:mo>/</mml:mo><mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mi>d</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mn>10</mml:mn></mml:mrow></mml:msub></mml:math>is 57% higher than regulation by 7%, whereas power consumption 20 W. save more 50%, compared projective one.
