ABSTRACT
Background . The Warthin-like variant of papillary thyroid (WLPTC) is a rare subtype carcinoma (PTC) resembling Warthin tumors the salivary glands. Due to its rarity, clinicopathologic and molecular features WLPTC remain unclear. Methods Of 2,139 patients who underwent surgical treatment for PTC from 2012 2013, 40 with were identified compared 200 consecutive classic PTC. BRAF mutation was tested pyrosequencing. Results There no significant differences in age, predilection women, multifocality, extrathyroidal extension, or lymph node metastasis between However, WLPTCs more commonly associated Hashimoto’s thyroiditis than PTCs (93% versus 36%, resp., P < 0.001) showed significantly lower rate when (65% 84%, = 0.007). In PTC, frequency mutations negatively correlated coexisting thyroiditis. When we thyroiditis, there characteristics mutational two groups. Conclusions Patients have similar demographic, clinical, pathologic, those
