Pituitary Insufficiency and Hyperprolactinemia Associated with Giant Intra- and Suprasellar Carotid Artery Aneurysm

ABSTRACT
Pituitary insufficiency secondary to internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysm is a very rare condition. Its prevalence reported as 0.17% (Heshmati et al., 2001). We present case of pituitary and hyperprolactinemia suprasellar giant intracranial aneurysm. A 71-year-old man was admitted our clinic with symptoms hypopituitarism, hyperprolactinemia, visual field defect. His MRI cerebral angiography revealed saccular filling cistern arising from the ophthalmic segment right ICA. Endovascular treatment performed on patient decrease mass effect improve hypophysis dysfunction. After treatment, his one-year follow-up showed persistence insufficiency, prolactin (PRL) level, normal field. An can mimic appearance behavior adenoma. Intracranial aneurysms should be taken into consideration in situation hypopituitarism hyperprolactinemia. It important distinguish them because their approach different others.
