ABSTRACT
Aim. CD44 and Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) signaling are important for gastric cancer (GC). However, the clinical impact, survival, recurrence outcome of CD44, Shh, Gli1 expressions in GC patients following radical resection have not been elucidated. Patients Methods. protein levels were quantified by immunohistochemistry (IHC). The association between expression clinicopathological features or prognosis was determined. biomarker risk score calculated IHC staining protein. Results. positive proteins correlated with larger tumour size, worse gross type histological type, advanced TNM stage, which also predicted shorter overall survival (OS) disease-free (DFS) after resection. Multivariate analysis indicated Gli1, predictive biomarkers OS DFS, respectively. If taken into analysis, it independent prognostic factor DFS. Conclusions. Shh aggressiveness, GC.
