ABSTRACT
Abstract Purpose: The signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is frequently overexpressed in most cancers, propagates tumorigenesis, a key regulator immune suppression cancer patients. We sought to determine the incidence phosphorylated STAT3 (p-STAT3) expression malignant gliomas different pathologic types, whether p-STAT3 negative prognostic factor, influences inflammatory response within gliomas. Methods: Using immunohistochemical analysis, we measured 129 patients with various types glioma tissue microarray. categorized our results according total number p-STAT3–expressing cells correlated this infiltrating T regulatory cells. then evaluated association between median survival time using univariate multivariate analyses. Results: did not detect normal brain tissues or low-grade astrocytomas. observed significant differences grades astrocytomas types. was associated population tumor-infiltrating but that On found anaplastic factor. Conclusions: common both astrocytic oligodendroglial lineages portends poor differs significantly degree infiltration.
