ABSTRACT
Using the yeast two-hybrid system, we screened a human placenta cDNA library and identified two proteins that interacted with Tat protein of caprine arthritis encephalitis virus (CAEV): EGF-like repeats 1–6 extracellular domain Notch2 receptor epithelin/granulin growth factor precursor. This interaction was also confirmed in mammalian cells. vitro mutagenesis assays, showed each one three cysteine residues located within cysteine-rich CAEV is essential for binding to both protein. It thus suggested plays role between either or domains, which exhibit EGF-like-repeat-imposed spatial conformation. assumed such interactions might modulate physiological functions epithelin/granulin, thereby affecting various pathologies associated CAEV.
