ABSTRACT
A 15-day Zn balance study was conducted with 36 growing rats maintained on a casein diet 18.2 <i>µ</i>g Zn/g from day 0 to 3. Thereafter, six each were given the following variates of content (<i>µ</i>g Zn/g): 5.6, 10.6, 18.2, 39, 70, 141. digestion adjusted change in dietary intake within first 6 days via control extent intestinal absorption and fecal excretion endogenous Zn. From 9 15, mean apparent ranged 92 18% 100 34% an inverse relation intake. At supply 39 70 diet, amounted nearly one fourth Reduction became major factor confine accretion by body when great excess above requirement. Endogenous exhibited its greatest homeostatic response range optimum kidneys did not partake homeostasis, except that it drain compared route at low intakes.
