ABSTRACT
Background/Aims: Women with diabetes experience a disproportionately greater burden of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) risk factors compared to men; however, sex-specific differences in DKD are not well defined. The effect age on sex is unknown. Methods: We performed cross-sectional analysis the prevalence (eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73 m2 or microalbuminuria), advanced <30 m2), and common Pathways Study (n = 4,839), prospective cohort study patients from managed care setting. Subjects were stratified by ≥60 years examine for age. Logistic regression models examined association between factors. Results: all ages had 28% decreased odds (OR 0.72, 95% CI 0.62–0.83); they 1.67, 1.05–2.64), dyslipidemia 1.42, 1.16–1.74), obesity 1.87, 1.60–2.20) men. similar hypertension poor glycemic control as increased DKD, hypertension, dyslipidemia, similarly aged their male counterparts. Conclusion: an men these disparities most prominent amongst elderly.
