Strengthening pre-service training of healthcare workers on immunisation and effective vaccine management: the experience of Kenya Medical Training College

ABSTRACT
Pre-service health training institutions have a key role in qualified medical and nursing staff deployable immunisation programmes, making them capable of addressing complex situations, sustaining routine introducing new vaccines technologies. The incorporation immunisation-related content into midwifery education is essential to improve strengthen service delivery, disease surveillance, logistics, communication management practices. Clinical public incorporating learning objectives on that are specific the Expanded Programme Immunisation (EPI), will enable students develop firm basis core knowledge skills immunisation. To assist African Region facilitate systematic revision EPI curricula, two prototype one for nursing/midwifery schools, were developed by WHO/AFRO, NESI/University Antwerp other partners 2006 revised 2015. Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has been at forefront revising updating their institutional curriculum pre-service Kenyan Registered Community Health Nursing programme based curriculum. Building successful strengthening curriculum, KMTC now embark improving effective vaccine cold chain selected programmes. different steps taken teaching can support who willing integrate own curricula adapting local context.
