ABSTRACT
To evaluate the effectiveness of nonthermal atmospheric plasma (NTAP) and priming on shear bond strength (SBS) a resin cement to two zirconia ceramics after 24 hours 1 year water storage.A total 120 plates (9 x 7 2 mm) were obtained from types (Katana, Kuraray Noritake; ZirCAD, Ivoclar Vivadent) randomly divided into 12 groups (n = 10 each). Zirconia ceramic submitted following treatments: (1) untreated (control); (2) treated with ZPrime Plus (Bisco Dental) primer; (3) NTAP (Surface Plasma Tool Model SAP, Surface Engineering Solution) application for seconds; (4) 30 (5) seconds followed by priming; (6) priming. Two silicone molds (2.37-mm diameter 2-mm height) positioned surface each plate, (Panavia F 2.0, Noritake) was manipulated inserted molds. After light activation, cylinders (specimens) plate. One specimen tested hours, other year. The load applied base until failure. Data analyzed using three-way ANOVA post hoc Tukey test (α .05).NTAP alone (groups 3 4) increased SBS compared control group only at hours. year, NTAP/primer combination showed higher than groups. Water storage reduced all groups.NTAP, combined or not primer, had beneficial effect adhesion negatively influenced in
