ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects Er:YAG and Nd:YAG lasers on shear bond strength composite resin dentin. coronal portion 56 human molars divided into three parts, dentin thickness standardized at 2 mm. A 3-mm hole marked in center each tooth with sealing tape paper. specimens (n = 14) were then four groups: (1) acid etching + Single Bond (SB) (control), (2) SB laser irradiation (before adhesive curing), (3) thermal SB, (4) curing). cylinder built delimited area for conducting test universal testing machine. means ± standard deviations were: group 1, 17.05 4.15 MPa; 2, 16.90 3.36 3, 12.12 3.85 4, 12.92 2.73 MPa. Groups 1 presented significantly higher values than groups 3 4. It concluded that conventional 37% phosphoric yielded compared laser. did not influence strength.
