ABSTRACT
Patients with cardiac hypertrophy are at increased cardiovascular risk. It has been hypothesized that hydroxymethylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors may exert beneficial effects other than their cholesterol-lowering actions. The aims of the study were to assess in vivo simvastatin (SIM) on and Ras signaling rats ascending aorta banding.Wistar randomized receive either treatment SIM or placebo, then short-term (group I) long-term II) left ventricular pressure overload was performed by placing a tantalum clip aorta. At end period, right weight, body tibial length measured echocardiographic evaluations performed. investigated analyzing membrane localization activation, ERK2 phosphorylation, p27(kip1) cdk4 levels. In SIM-treated rats, significant reduction weight/body mass, end-diastolic diameter found. overload, significantly reduced targeting, ratio cdk4/p27(kip1).HMG CoA inhibitor inhibits prevents development aortic-banded animals.
