ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND The present study was designed to investigate the intracellular production of cyclic GMP (cGMP) in platelets response nitroglycerin and determine potential clinical value platelet cGMP as an indicator effects nitrate tolerance. METHODS AND RESULTS Platelet levels diameters coronary arteries before 2 minutes after intracoronary injection 200 micrograms were measured 15 patients who had previously received nitrates (nitrates group) 16 not any (no-nitrates group). increased significantly two groups, but plasma atrial natriuretic peptide did change. percent increase dilatation left anterior descending (LAD) circumflex (LCx) higher no-nitrates group than (platelet levels: artery, 74.2 +/- 18.3% versus 11.5 4.2%, P < .01; vein, 73.6 22.9% 9.0 3.1%, dilatation: LAD, 46.7 6.0% 9.9 2.5%, .01, LCx, 51.2 8.7% 6.1 3.0%, .01). correlated with (LAD: r = .90, LCx: .92, .01) group. CONCLUSIONS These results indicate that can be used for situ evaluation have develop tolerance, which affects vasodilation nitroglycerin.
