ABSTRACT
Recently, it has been reported that the luminal diameter shows phasic changes after stenting: progression of narrowing followed by its regression. To elucidate mechanisms involved in stenting, we examined neointimal thickness and appearance neointima a series angiographic angioscopic observations for 3 years stent implantation. In 12 patients who received Wiktor coronary stent, serial examinations were performed immediately, 2 to 4 weeks, months, 6 stenting without repetition angioplasty. Neointimal was determined angiography as difference between diameters. The over classified transparent or nontransparent according visibility majority stent. increased significantly at months (0.75+/-0.32 mm) further (0.74+/-0.32 mm). Thereafter, however, decreased (0.51+/-0.26 8 (100) immediately (100%) (17%) (20%) 7 (58%) years. The became thick until then thin years. We conclude remodeling exists plays major role alteration stenting.
