ABSTRACT
We conducted experiments to determine (1) tissue, blood, and urine levels of adenosine produced by the ischemic kidney under conditions renal artery occlusion, (2) site(s) production release kidney. Concentrations adenosine, inosine, hypoxanthine in dog were found increase after 2 minutes occlusion as concentrations these metabolites tissue 10 occlusion. Renal venous plasma inosine also elevated 3 arterial In modified stop-flow experiments, appeared a peak that corresponded most closely with proximal tubule fluid. 5'-Nucleotidase, enzyme which catalyzes dephosphorylation 5'-AMP or 5'-IMP respectively, was be located primarily on external membranes mitochondria cells, but not distal collecting duct cells. Since has been demonstrated elicit vasoconstriction is kidney, it suggested may involved mediation postocclusion ischemia.
