ABSTRACT
We compared the pattern of cerebrovascular disease (stroke) mortality in men and women aged 40-69 years 27 countries during 1970-1985 with decline coronary heart same period. Stroke rates declined 21 25 for women, respectively. In 23 stroke was greater than that men. Countries highest are also those least favorable secular trend. The rate is experienced a both categories. International comparisons risk factor levels over time required to explain striking differences between countries.
