ABSTRACT
Introduction: Few reports have compared the commonly used technical approaches of stentriever, suction thrombectomy, and combined technique, particularly with emphasis on thrombus volume, fragmentation, distal embolization, clinical outcome. Methods: Medical records radiographic images patients undergoing endovascular stroke therapy at our institution between 2014 2015 were reviewed for following data points: Patient age, sex, NIH scale (NIHSS) presentation, number passes, presence embolization angiography, TICI score, Modified Rankin Scale (MRS) discharge. When available, photographic retrieved analyzed fragments size largest fragment. Parameters three thrombectomy techniques (ADAPT technique), approach. Results: Of 63 receiving therapy, 47 (75%) underwent mechanical thrombectomy: Stentriever 17 (36%), Suction 18 (38%), 12 (26%). Average age presenting scales similar in groups. A single pass was more common group (72%) than stentriever (29%) groups (8%). There (2.3) (3.4) (1.4), correlating to frequent (suction 22%, 70%, 50%). The (12.9 mm; 6.6 10.4 mm). Overall outcome discharge better (61% MRS 0-2) (35%) (17%). Conclusions: In patient sample outperformed categories achieved reperfusion grade, pass, size, fragments, While stent retriever thrombetomy as primary approaches, technique utilized a rescue attempt once approach had failed, constituting potential limitation analysis this category.
