ABSTRACT
The contribution of serum phosphate levels to stroke risk in dialysis patients remains unclear. present study aimed elucidate the respective association between and brain hemorrhage or infarction undergoing hemodialysis.A total 3437 hemodialysis were followed up for a median 3.9 years. primary outcome was occurrence infarction. Patients divided into 4 groups based on their baseline (Q1-Q4). Stroke estimated using Cox proportional hazards model.During follow-up period, 75 experienced 139 significantly higher highest (Q4) compared with lowest quartile (Q1) as reference value (multivariate-adjusted hazard ratio [95% confidence intervals]: Q1, 1.00; Q2, 1.76 [0.79-4.18]; Q3, 1.99 [0.92-4.67]; Q4, 2.74 [1.27-6.47]; P=0.077 trend; every 1 mmol/L increase level, 2.07 [1.10-3.81]; P=0.025). In contrast, Q1 (P=0.045) Q3 (Q1, 1.65 [1.01-2.73]; 1.35 [0.82-2.25]; 1.30 [0.77-2.20]).Higher associated an increased hemorrhage, whereas low patients. These results suggest importance managing within appropriate range patients.URL: http://www.umin.ac.jp/. Unique identifier: UMIN000000556.
