ABSTRACT
Background and Purpose- Cerebral infarctions complicate a variable proportion of tuberculous meningitis (TBM) cases adversely affect outcomes. The objective this study was to evaluate the predictors cerebral infarcts in patients with TBM assess their impact on mortality. Methods- based retrospective chart review all admitted tertiary care hospital between 2002 2013. Data were collected basic demographics, conventional vascular risk factors, radiological findings, severity TBM, neurological analyzed using SPSS version 19.0. Binary logistic regression done determine factors predictive mortality TBM. Results- A total 559 during period. Mean age 41.9 years (SD, 17.7 years), 47% women. quarter had stage III disease. One hundred forty-four (25.8%) brain imaging which 3 quarters acute or subacute. Those more likely be >40 (adjusted odds ratio [AOR], 1.7; 95% CI, 1.1-2.7) have hypertension (AOR, 1.8; 1.1-2.8), dyslipidemia 9.7; 3.8-24.8), diabetes mellitus 2.2; 1.3-3.6).
