ABSTRACT
Background and Purpose- Distribution patterns of iron deposition in deep gray matter their association with clinical characteristics cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy subcortical infarcts leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) remain unclear. We aimed to evaluate patients CADASIL using 7.0-T susceptibility-weighted imaging mapping explore its correlations characteristics. Methods- Thirty-nine CADASIL, confirmed via genetic analysis or skin biopsy, were enrolled. examined the Mini-Mental State Examination, modified Rankin Scale, brain magnetic resonance obtained lesion loads, small vessel disease scores, susceptibility mapping. The following regions interest selected: caudate nucleus, putamen, globus pallidus, thalamus, substantia nigra, red nucleus. quantitative differences between control groups identified. Results- Compared group, group showed significantly increased basal ganglia region, including age duration positively correlated scores CADASIL. Moreover, thalamus Scale after adjusting for that putamen negatively Examination age. Conclusions- Our findings indicate an abnormal Therefore, excess matter, as indicated by mapping, might not only be a novel feature but also potential biomarker severity.
