Tillandsia alcatrazensis (Bromeliaceae), a new endemic species from Alcatrazes Island in southeastern Brazil

ABSTRACT
Based on recent field work an insular granitic outcrop in southeast Brazil, a new Tillandsia species was collected and described here. alcatrazensis belongs to T. subg. Anoplophytum is morphologically similar geminiflora, from which it differs by the larger size of whole plant flower, floral bracts longer flowers with reddish-salmon sepals white petals, styles. We present diagnosis, description, color photographs, illustration, ecological, phenotypical variation comments, compares related species. preliminarily classified as Critically Endangered (CR) due its small restricted distribution, although Alcatrazes Island part national protected area.
