ABSTRACT
Stemphylium species are saprophytes, or plant pathogens mostly associated with economically important crops. In this study, we isolated strains from grey to brown lesions on the culms of Schoenoplectus sp. (Cyperaceae, Poales). Based combined morphological characteristics and sequence data internal transcribed spacer (ITS‒rDNA) region, parts glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (gapdh) calmodulin (cmdA) genes, studied were identified described herein as a new species, S. persianum. The is phylogenetically closely related halophilum lycii, however, they distinguishable based conidiophores, conidia, ascospores morphology. Detailed descriptions, illustrations, phylogenetic relationships other provided herein.
